Fun Fact;
“Axolotl” comes from a long-dead Aztec language that was spoken in the Valley of Mexico. In that language, Atl means “water” and xolotl means “dog. Specifically, axolotls get their name from the Aztec god called Xolotl.
As the story goes, he was a dog-headed deity that led people into the underworld after they died (like an Aztec grim reaper).
